Biden took 48 years' worth of leave in 4 years
United States President Joe Biden took a staggering 532 vacation days out of the 1,326 days he's been in office in less than four years. This data was revealed by the Republican National Committee (RNC), which also highlighted that last Saturday marked his "16th straight day on vacation." To put this into perspective, it would take an average American approximately 48 years to accumulate the same number of days off, given they get only 11 days a year.
Biden's vacation days surpass Trump's
Biden's vacation record significantly exceeds that of his predecessor, Donald Trump, who spent 26% of his presidency on personal trips out of Washington. He took 381 days off out of his 1,461 days in office. In comparison, Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama vacationed for just 11% of their two-term presidencies. Jimmy Carter took only 79 days' worth of breaks, accounting for 5% of his single term in office.
Biden's vacation days spark criticism
Commenting on Biden's alleged R&R (rest and recreation), Mark Paoletta, former general counsel of the White House budget office under Trump, said, "Inflation has been out of control; prices still way too high; our border overrun with millions of illegal aliens committing violent crimes on our citizens." "And all Biden wants to do is go on vacation and check out—for more than 530 days."
Biden's low public profile and work from vacation
Last Saturday, he was seen basking in the sun in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where the Bidens have a vacation home. Biden and Jill Biden purchased the house in 2017. A sign reading "Beau's gift" also hangs on the front, honoring their son Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015. Biden told CNN in 2016 that he considered selling the Greenville house to pay for Beau's cancer treatments, but Obama convinced him not to and offered to lend him money.
