Indonesia: Giant python swallows woman, body found whole inside belly
The body of a 54-year-old woman was found inside the belly of a giant python in Indonesia's Persiapan Lawela village on the island of Muna, police said on Saturday. The 23-foot snake had swallowed the woman while she was tending to her vegetable garden. Locals had launched a search operation for her, when they found some of her belongings lying near the idle snake.
Victim's sandals and machete found 30 metres away from snake
Wa Tiba went missing on Thursday night, after which over 100 locals and relatives started looking for her. The villagers soon found her sandals and machete lying some 30 metres away from a giant serpent. Seeing the beast bloated, they suspected it had swallowed her, and killed it. The snake was then carried to the garden and cut open.
Apparently, the snake swallowed her head first
Upon cutting open the python, the villagers found Tiba's corpse inside its belly, intact. The serpent had swallowed her head first. Wa Tiba's garden is located at the base of a rocky cliff, frequented by snakes and reptiles. While minor attacks are common, snakes eating humans is rare. Pythons, generally measuring about six metres, are easily found in Indonesia and Philippines.
