Indian-origin man charged with murder of Nepalese student in US
An Indian-origin man, Bobby Singh Shah, has been charged with the murder of a 21-year-old Nepalese student in Houston, United States. The victim, Muna Pandey, was found dead in her apartment with multiple gunshot wounds following an anonymous tip to the police. Surveillance footage placed Shah at the scene shortly before the shooting took place. He was later arrested during a traffic stop and is currently being held without bond on charges of capital murder.
Murder suspect arrested during traffic stop
Shah was arrested on Wednesday evening during a traffic stop in northwest Houston. The arrest was a coordinated effort by HPD SWAT officers, the HPD Crime Reduction Unit, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was subsequently booked into Harris County Jail without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.

Pandey moved to Houston in 2021 to study at the Houston Community College. She was found dead on her bed with three gunshot wounds to her torso and one to the back of her head around 5:35 pm on Monday, according to court documents. Friends described Pandey as a dedicated student and an only child, expressing their grief over her violent death.
Victim's mother seeks to travel from Nepal
Pandey's mother, Anita, who had been trying to contact her daughter for days without success, is now seeking help to travel from Nepal to Houston. A GoFundMe page has been set up to cover the costs of Muna's funeral and Anita's travel expenses. As of August 29, the fundraiser had collected over $14,000.
