In a gut-wrenching incident, an Indian man allegedly murdered his girlfriend in Dubai and drove around the city with her body placed in the front seat of the car last July, a Dubai Court of First Instance was told on Sunday. The accused suspected the victim, who also hails from India, cheated on him. He drove with her body for nearly 45 long minutes.
They had a five-year-long relationship, she was allegedly cheating
The man and his girlfriend were in a relationship for nearly five years, but he recently found out she was not faithful and spoke to other men. On the fateful day, he met her behind the parking lot of Burjuman shopping center, but not before sending e-mails to her family threatening that if they didn't find a solution, he would kill her.
Man stabbed lover's chest, slit her throat
An officer told the court the man spoke with his lover for about two hours inside the car. When she told her family didn't want him as her husband, he got provoked and allegedly stabbed her chest and slit her throat. Then he went to a nearby eatery, ordered food and a bottle of water. He ate the meal inside the car.
He went to police station, turned himself in
For 45 minutes, the accused drove around the city before turning himself in at the police station in Deira. The station is about 4.5 km away from the initial spot where the couple met. "I was surprised when he entered the police station because he had blood on his clothes," a cop told the court. He admitted to the crime.
The body was kept on front seat: Cop
"He was terrified and told me that he had killed his girlfriend. The victim's body was on the front seat and there were signs that indicated her throat had been slit. I found a big knife on the backseat covered in blood," the cop said.
CCTV footage showed car didn't move for nearly two hours
The car had heavily tinted windows. CCTV cameras showed that the victim entered the car at 9:37 pm, and the vehicle didn't move from the parking lot until 11.30 pm.
