India extends $500mn credit line to Mauritius
India extended a $500mn credit line to Mauritius as the two countries signed a maritime security agreement after extensive talks between PM Narendra Modi and his counterpart, Pravind Jugnauth. "The agreement is a good example of our commitment to the development of Mauritius," PM Narendra Modi said. A total of four agreements were signed. The nations also resolved to enhance cooperation in different areas.

"India is proud to participate actively in the ongoing development activities in Mauritius," Modi said, adding, "PM Jugnauth and I agree that it is our responsibility to ensure collective maritime security around our coasts and in our EEZs." Modi last visited Mauritius in March 2015.
Mauritius PM Jugnauth in India on three-day visit
Earlier, Jugnauth was extended a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan after he arrived on a three-day visit. He held talks with Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He is also scheduled to meet Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and President Pranab Mukherjee. This is Jugnauth's first international visit after taking office in 2017.
