During the meeting, Yunus introduced three students who were instrumental in the protests. He described them as ordinary individuals whose actions and speeches had a profound impact on the country. "They just look like any other young person(s) you will not recognize. But when you see them in action or hear them speak, you will be shaken," he said. Yunus hailed Mahfuz as the "brain behind the revolution."

The 84-year-old economist was appointed the country's chief adviser in August, following the student-led uprising that deposed Hasina. The student-led protests in July 2024 were sparked by the reinstatement of a controversial job quota system. The policy reserved 30% of government jobs for descendants of veterans who fought in the 1971 war of independence against Pakistan.
