Ex-US President George Bush Sr. apologizes for patting women's rears
Former US President George HW, 93, Bush has apologized for patting "women's rears" jokingly after actress Heather Lind, 34, accused him of sexual assault. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Lind claimed Bush groped her four years ago at an event promoting the TV series 'Turn: Washington's Spies.' Lind wrote she decided to speak out in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal.
Lind claims Bush touched her from behind, told dirty joke
Lind said while posing for a photo at the event, Bush sexually assaulted her. "He didn't shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side. He told me a dirty joke," she said. Bush repeated the act as more photos were taken while "Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say 'not again.'"
Bush: Patting women's rears intended to be in good-nature
In a statement, Bush's office said he's been "confined to a wheelchair for roughly five years, so his arm falls on the lower waist of people with whom he takes pictures." He routinely tells the same joke and sometimes "patted women's rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner." Some consider this "innocent" while others find it inappropriate for which he apologized.
