Her husband, Dennis Troper, shared the news of her demise in a heartfelt Facebook post. "My beloved wife of 26 years and mother to our five children left us today after 2 years of living with non-small cell lung cancer. Please keep our family in your thoughts as we navigate this difficult time," he wrote.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, also took to X to mourn "the loss of my dear friend." He acknowledged her significant contribution to Google, writing "Unbelievably saddened by the loss of my dear friend Susan Wojcicki after two years of living with cancer." "She is as core to the history of Google as anyone, and it's hard to imagine the world without her. I'm one of countless Googlers who is better for knowing her. We'll miss her dearly."

Her son died in February 

Just months ago, the family had lost their 19-year-old son to an accidental overdose. Marco Troper was found dead on February 13 in his dormitory at the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States (US). Troper's autopsy revealed high levels of cocaine, amphetamine, alprazolam (Xanax), a medication used to treat panic and anxiety disorders, and hydroxyzine, an antihistamine used to treat allergies and anxiety, in his system, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office Coroner Bureau's investigator report.

Wojcicki was the CEO of YouTube from 2014 to 2023. According to The Guardian, she had been in the tech industry for almost 20 years, beginning with her involvement in the establishment of Google in 1998 when she rented out her garage as an office to the company's founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. She went on to become Google's first marketing manager in 1999, subsequently becoming the company's head of online advertising and original video service.
