Ex-US President HW Bush hospitalized a day after wife's funeral
Former US President George HW Bush (93) has been hospitalized to Houston Methodist Hospital on Monday after contracting an infection that spread to his blood, a day after his wife Barbara Bush's funeral, family spokesperson Jim McGrath said. His wife died on April 17. "He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant," McGrath said.
Bush gave tribute to Barbara on her funeral ceremony
The couple was married for 73 years. Barbara was the only woman to see both her husband and son sworn in as US President. Bush attended her funeral wearing socks decorated in blue, red, and yellow books, a tribute to her legacy of promoting literacy. Former Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and their spouses attended the ceremony along with current first lady Melania Trump.
