What's the story
US President Donald Trump, while addressing the Department of Justice (DOJ) recently, took note of Indian PM Narendra Modi's visit to the United States.
He said he wants Washington DC to present a clean and secure image to the world's leaders including PM Modi.
Trump's remarks reiterated his dedication to the cause of driving out crime, graffiti, and tent encampments from the city.

Trump also described his plans for improving the city in his speech.
He stressed efforts to eliminate crime, remove graffiti, and take down tents in partnership with the administration.
"We're cleaning up our city. We're cleaning up this great capital... and we're going to take the graffiti down...and we're working with the administration," he said in his speech at the DOJ.

Trump praises Mayor Bowser's efforts
Trump praised Mayor Muriel Bowser for her quick response to cleaning up the capital.
He cited the rapid removal of tents right opposite the State Department as an instance of effective management of the city.
"We said there are tents galore right opposite the State Department. They have to come down. And they took them down right away," he said during his DOJ speech.

Trump vows to make Washington DC crime-free
Trump vowed to make Washington DC a crime-free capital, where visitors would feel secure.
"We're going to have a crime-free capital. When people come here, they're not going to be mugged or shot or raped," he said.
He added the capital would be cleaner, better, and safer than it ever was, promising quick action toward it.

Trump criticizes Biden's DOJ
In his DOJ address, Trump also took a dig at former President Joe Biden's administration. He accused them of turning the DOJ into a "Department of Injustice."
Speaking as the "Chief Law Enforcement Officer," he announced that the previous administration's approach to justice had ended permanently and demanded accountability for all wrongs and abuse that had taken place during their tenure.
