Ronaldo buys world's most expensive car at Rs. 132 crore
Back in March, Bugatti graced the Geneva Motor Show by unveiling the world's most expensive car - the La Voiture Noire. The car, as the automaker said, was designed as a handcrafted one-off variant and was purchased by the first person it was offered to at Rs. 132 crore. Now, as it seems, this person is famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. Here are the details.
Interestingly, Ronaldo among world's top-earning athletes
Ronaldo buying a car so fancy shouldn't come as a surprise considering he is one of the highest-earning athletes. The star footballer had made an estimated $108 million in 2018, with his total net worth estimated to be $450 million. He already owns several luxury cars, including Mercedes C Class Sport Coupe, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Ujn Ferrari 599 GTO, and a Lamborghini Aventador.
Till now, the details were kept under wraps
When La Voiture Noire was unveiled, Bugatti claimed that the hypercar had already been bought but denied providing the details of the person in question. However, just recently, a report from Spanish outlet Marca revealed that Ronaldo might have taken in the iconic vehicle. To note, Bugatti designed La Voiture as an homage to the all-black variant of its vintage Type 57SC Atlantic.

However, no evidence has surfaced yet
While Marca pits Ronaldo's name as the potential buyer, it's important to note that the site hasn't given any proof of this. Ronaldo has also not shared any photo on social media either. Previously, Ferdinand Piech, the grandson of Porsche's founder and the former chief executive of Volkswagen which owns Bugatti, was speculated to be the buyer.
Reminiscence of Type 57SC Atlantic
Bugatti's Type 57SC Atlantic dominated the 20th century, but the all-black variant of the car went missing during the Second World War. Now, with La Voiture Noire, the automaker is bringing back the luxury and class of that variant. The new hypercar boasts a complete carbon fiber body with a gloss black finish and delivers a mix of retro and modern Bugatti to perfection.
High quality handcrafted components
La Voiture Noire has been built from high-quality handcrafted components. In fact, Bugatti's designer Etienne Salome claimed the design was worked upon until nothing more could be improved.
Immense power under the hood
The luxury of La Voiture Noire has been combined with the drivetrain of another Bugatti masterpiece - the Chiron. As a result, you get an 8-liter 16-cylinder engine capable of producing 1,500 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque under-the-hood. The hypercar also boasts six exhaust pipes at the rear - much like Atlantic's five - for a whole new level of power and noise.
Top speed of 420kmph
Bugatti hasn't said much about the speed of the one-off hypercar, but as its drivetrain is built upon Chiron, you can expect similar speed and acceleration from the car. Chiron, for reference, can do 0-100kmph in 2.4 seconds and has a top speed of 420kmph.
