Photo of Chinese cop breastfeeding suspect's baby goes viral
A photo of a Chinese female bailiff breastfeeding a four-month-old daughter of an under-trial prisoner is winning people's hearts on social media. Hao Lina, a police officer at a Chinese intermediate people's court, is being lauded for her selflessness, with some hailing her as "the most beautiful bailiff." Her photo, uploaded by the court, has over 10,000 comments and 1,00,000 likes so far.
I wanted to comfort the hungry baby, says policewoman
The incident occurred on September 23, when the baby, who was left in Hao's care, started to cry as her mother attended the trial. Hao, a new mother herself, got worried and so she breastfed the hungry infant after seeking her mother's permission. "I felt the same way about the baby as her own mother would. I wanted to comfort her," Hao reportedly said.
Every police officer would do the same: Hao
Hao believes she did nothing special and that "every police officer would do the same." The infant's mother was so touched by Hao's act that she cried after leaving the court. She was reportedly one among 34 people to have been sentenced to prison for being involved in a bogus fund-raising ring. She pleaded guilty to charges of fraud and embezzlement.
