China: Surgeons find spider spinning web inside a man's ear
In China, a man, identified as Mr. Li, complained about itching in his ear, and on a closer look, the surgeons found that a spider was living inside his ear. A medical solution was filled into his ear that got the spider out. The surgeons believe that the spider had been living there for a while, as it had weaved webs inside.
Mr. Li complained of unbearable itching in his ear
A daily newspaper from China, Yangzhou Evening News, reported that on Sunday, Mr. Li went to the Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University Medical School. There he informed the doctors that he could not bear the itching in his ear. While there was nothing unusual that the doctors noticed initially, they later found out a grey spider nesting inside his ear under a microscope.
Spider was living deep inside, surgeons used saline solution
One of the surgeons of the hospital, Zhang Pan, informed that as the spider was living deep inside the man's ear canal and was moving quickly, it was difficult for them to remove it with tools. The saline solution that was injected inside Mr. Li's ear successfully removed the spider. Moreover, Mr. Li did not suffer any injuries as informed by Zhang.
Florida man found living cockroach in his ear last year
Surgeon Zhang also urged people to seek medical advice immediately, instead of poking your ear in case of such symptoms. In a similar incident last year, a Florida man went to an emergency room after he realized that a cockroach is living inside his ear. In this case, the cockroach had even laid eggs inside the man's ear before it was removed.
Human ear a safe place to rest and eat
Last year, The Verge reported that cockroaches find human ear a safe place to rest and eat. Coby Schal, a professor from North Carolina State University who studies insects, said that cockroaches are attracted towards human earwax (works as their snack), especially toward its smell.
