China: 7 children killed, 12 injured in knife attack
A knife-wielding assailant stabbed 19 students, on their way home from school in Shaanxi province, China, on Friday. Reportedly seven students lost their lives in the attack before the suspect was arrested. He is reported to be less than 18 years and a drop-out of the school whose students he attacked. Most of the victims are females.
Photos on social media show graphic details of tragedy
The photos circulating on social media show kids lying in a pool of blood. They also show the suspect, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, being taken away by the police. A police statement gave details of the attack and read, "At 18:10 local time on April 27, a suspect attacked students leaving the No. 3 middle school in Mizhi County."
Knife has become weapon of choice in the Asian country
Since gun laws are quite strict in China, miscreants have taken to knife and axe attacks to disrupt societal peace. In February, an assailant's attack in a mall in Beijing left a woman dead and injured 12 others. In most of the cases, the mental illness of the killer turns out to be a major reason for attacks.
