Chinese model gains 35kg to impress boyfriend, faces rejection
At a time when weight loss journey videos are a hit, a former Chinese model gained popularity on social media for putting on about 35 kg in a month. The reason? To impress her boyfriend. Yes, that's right! However, their story did not end well. Despite gaining weight for him in the hope of getting a marriage proposal, the boyfriend allegedly dumped her.
The boyfriend preferred chubbier girls
Prior to meet her boyfriend, the woman, surnamed Zeng, from Hunan province in southern China, weighed about 50 kg. Her boyfriend, Wei stated that if Zeng put on weight, he would propose to her because he prefers heavier women. In April 2022, Wei reportedly asked Zeng to gain weight, setting a target of 65-75 kg, claiming that all his previous girlfriends were overweight.
She gained weight in a month
Wei persisted in persuading Zeng to put on weight by pledging to stay by her side after she hesitated. Zeng believed that gaining weight would result in marriage. As reported by the South China Morning Post, Zeng subsequently agreed and gained 35 kg in a month to win her lover's heart. She lost her modeling profession as a result.
Wei ghosted Zeng after her weight gain
Zeng's efforts went down the drain after Wei dumped her despite sacrificing her job and gaining weight as requested by him. Zeng claimed that Wei disappeared. "I expect you can find a stable man, but I am not that person," Wei texted her on WeChat, adding that he was leaving her "because I like freedom." Wei then blocked her on the messaging app.
Lovers going to extremes to be with their partners
This isn't the first time a person has gone to lengths to win their partner's heart. A recent popular example is the case of a Pakistani woman named Seema Haider who crossed borders to come to India (via Nepal) without a visa to meet the man she met while playing the online game PUBG. Currently living in Noida, the couple is under scrutiny.
