Paris attack: Trump seeks changes to thought process on terror
US President Donald Trump today said countries must "open their eyes" and change their "thought process" on how to tackle terrorism, following the latest attack linked to the Islamic State in France. A Chechen-born 20-year-old man launched a stabbing spree in central Paris on Saturday, leaving one person dead and four seriously wounded. The knifeman was shot dead by police. Here are more details.

Last year, Trump in his new South Asia strategy said that America and its partners are committed to stripping terrorists of their territory, cutting off their funding, and exposing the false allure of their evil ideology. "Terrorists who slaughter innocent people will find no glory in this life or the next. They are nothing but thugs, and criminals, and predators, and losers," Trump said.
Trump criticized Pakistan for giving safe haven to terrorists
"Working alongside our allies, we will break their (terrorists') will, dry up their recruitment, keep them from crossing our borders, and yes, we will defeat them handily," Trump had said while criticizing Pakistan for giving safe haven to "agents of chaos, violence, and terror."
US stands in solidarity with the French people
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families," the White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said. She said the US stands in solidarity with the French people and their government against the terrorist attack. "Acts like this only strengthen the resolve of the global coalition to defeat ISIS and drive it out of existence," Sanders said.
ISIS has claimed the responsibility for attack
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the US doesn't know much about and who was behind the attack. "We know that ISIS has claimed responsibility. They said he was one of their soldiers. We can't verify that yet. The French authorities, with all intelligence help the United States can provide, we'll do our best to unpack this in the coming hours," Pompeo said.
