'No Fs given': Cathay Pacific misspells its own name
In an embarrassing faux pas, Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airlines misspelled its own name on a newly painted aeroplane, and failed to notice it till some passengers pointed it out on social media. The airline missed an F in its name, making it read, "Cathay Paciic". Although the airline owned it up with good humor, it got trolled by Twitterati for the gaffe.

Mistake or mischief? Engineer says mistake seems unlikely
Interestingly though, an engineer at Haeco, Cathay Pacific's sister company, said that he was at a loss as to how the mistake was committed. Speaking to South China Morning Post, he said, "The spacing is too on-point for a mishap. We have stencils. Should be a blank gap in between letters if it was a real mistake I think."
The plane has been in service for 14 years
According to the Guardian, the Boeing 777-367 with the misspelled name has been part of Cathay Pacific's fleet for 14 years, since 2004. A recent re-painting of the plane resulted in the faux pas.
Interestingly, Cathay had made a paint job faux pas earlier
The error is likely to be expensive, and is expected to cost thousands of dollars to fix. Notably, this isn't Cathay Pacific's first paint job faux pas - a few years ago, one of Cathay's earliest planes was repainted with the airline's current branding, and had its green "brushwing" long painted back to front. This time, however, social media had a field day.
