Andrew Tate, brother, leave Romania by private jet for US
What's the story
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have reportedly left Romania for the United States on a private jet.
They left the country after 5:00am on a private jet from Baneasa airport, sources told BBC.
The brothers, who hold dual UK-US citizenship, had been under a travel ban in Romania since December 2023 after their detention in a Bucharest suburb over allegations of human trafficking and rape.
Legal proceedings
Tate brothers charged with serious crimes
In June 2023, the Tate brothers were formally charged along with two Romanian women.
They denied all the charges, with their representatives saying, "While this news is undoubtedly predictable, we embrace the opportunity it presents to demonstrate their innocence and vindicate their reputation."
The brothers are also wanted by UK police over similar allegations of rape and human trafficking, which they continue to deny.
Political angle
Romania's PM denies Trump administration's involvement
Romania's Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu recently denied any involvement from Donald Trump's administration in lifting the travel restrictions on the Tates.
However, The Financial Times reported that Trump's special envoy, Richard Grenell, had discussions with the Romanian foreign minister regarding the Tates at a Munich security conference.
During the US election, the Tate brothers backed Trump and received substantial support on right-wing social media platforms.
