Here's a look inside Jeff Bezos's new $80mn NYC penthouse
Ever since he divorced his wife of 25 years, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has been house-hunting. And after months, his search has finally come to an end. Bezos, the richest man in the world, has landed a grand three-floor penthouse in Manhattan, New York City, and two surrounding units, worth $80 million! Here are more details.
The 3 units span 17,000 sqft and have 12 bedrooms
Reportedly, the triplex penthouse and the two apartments, that are directly below it, have 12 bedrooms and sprawl 17,000 square feet. The apartment building, 212 Fifth Avenue, overlooks Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, The Wall Street Journal reported. An appraiser also told the publication that this is one of the priciest real estate purchases to have closed in New York this year.
Here's what the three NYC condos come with
With the units, Bezos gets to enjoy a golf simulator, fitness center, movie-screening room, a 24-hour doorman, game room, etc. The penthouse alone is to die for. Spanning 10,000 square feet, it has five bedrooms, including a seven-room suite; five bathrooms, including a master bathroom overlooking the Empire State building; a sun-lit lounge; a private elevator; a 5,000-square-foot wraparound terrace; and more!
'212 Fifth Avenue epitomizes New York luxury'
"212 Fifth Avenue epitomizes New York luxury and perfectly captures the rich history and elegance Madison Square Park exudes," Thor Equities CEO Joseph Sitt said. Thor Equities partnered with Madison Equities to develop 212 Fifth Avenue. "The neighborhood was carefully chosen for this acquisition and development, as it exemplifies the evolving tastes of the world's wealth from traditional neighborhoods of years past."
Bezos initially set a budget for $60mn
Reportedly, Bezos had been on the look-out for a regal accommodation, even after Amazon canceled plans to set up HQ2 in New York. With a net worth of $140bn, Bezos set a budget of $60mn and was looking at the 220 Central Park South listing at one point. However, he went with 212 Fifth Avenue, which went on the market in 2016 for $68.5mn.
