19-year-old at large after allegedly killing parents at Michigan university
A 19-year-old man is suspected to have shot to death his parents at a Central Michigan University dormitory in Mount Pleasant during a domestic dispute yesterday. The accused, James Eric Davis Jr., is considered armed and dangerous and is on the run. Nearby schools immediately went into "secure mode." This comes two weeks after a shooter killed 17 people at a Florida high school.
Suspect was believed to have had "drug-related incidents"
James Eric had a history of drug use, police said. A day before, he had been taken to hospital purportedly due to a "drug-related incident," an overdose or a bad reaction. His parents James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis, both 47, are believed to have visited to pick up their son for spring break. They were later found dead inside the university residence hall.

Schools locked down, search underway in ground and air
In "secure mode," schools locked all their doors, drew blinds and stopped all entry into the buildings. A basketball game between Central Michigan and Western Michigan University scheduled yesterday has been postponed. President Donald Trump has been briefed, White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley said. Local police were assisting university police as officials launched searched on the ground and in the air.
The victim was much loved in the neighborhood
James Davis Sr. from the Chicago suburb was a part-time police officer for 20 years and assisted the department on occasions. He was much loved in the community, which has 20,000 residents. "He was always there when you needed," Bellwood Police Chief Jiminez Allen said.
