Mourinho expects Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave Manchester United soon
Manchester United's veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is likely to part ways with the club this summer according to manager Jose Mourinho. The towering Swede has been on the sidelines ever since the knee injury which he suffered against Anderlecht in April last year. Zlatan scored 28-goals for the Red Devils last season and was instrumental in leading them to Europa League glory.
Zlatan yet to fully recover from the injury
Zlatan's knee injury did not seem to be too bad last year and he made a comeback in late November. However, only after a few games, the injury recurred again and he has failed to be match-fit ever since. Not just Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Manchester United are likely to see a mass exodus this summer as several players are out of contract.
'Think it's his last season at Manchester United'
"Zlatan, we all think it's his last season at Manchester United...He has earned the right of choosing his life, his future. That awful injury in the wrong moment broke a fantastic couple of seasons he could and should have with us." Mourinho said.
Zlatan hopes to be fit for Champions League
Zlatan, who has had an illustrious career with Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter Milan and PSG, is hoping to be fit in time for the second leg of the Champions League last-16 tie against Sevilla at Old Trafford on March 13. Zlatan has won almost everything during his career, but the Champions League is one trophy, the 36-year-old desperately seeks.
Zlatan could step out of retirement to help Sweden
There are also talks that Zlatan would return to the Swedish national team for this World Cup. Sweden's record scorer with 62 goals in 116 games, has said the "door isn't closed". Zlatan retired from international football after the Euro 2016 finals. Sweden have been drawn alongside Germany, Mexico and South Korea in Group F.
