'I Am Zlatan' to hit the big screens
The legend of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is only going to grow, now that a movie about the Manchester United striker's life is going to hit the silver screens. The film will be based on his memoirs, titled 'I Am Zlatan Ibrahimovic' which was penned down by David Lagercrantz. The script will be ready by May and a budget of €5 million has been set.
Scandinavian film producer to make film on Zlatan
Scandinavian film producer, Mattias Nohrborg revealed that the film will be based on Ibrahimovic's difficult childhood and how football was his saving grace in Malmo. It will cover his journey all the way through his developing years at Ajax and Juventus, where he rose to super-stardom. The film will also represent Ibrahimovic's brashness, something the Swedish superstar is well known for.
Zlatan has had an unbelieving destiny
"Zlatan has had an unbelieving destiny. He was brought up in a ghetto where more than 90 percent of the youth end up being delinquents, and he made everything himself, he's completely self-learned." Mattias Nohrborg was quoted by Variety.
Film to showcase footballer's rise to stardom
The film will be shot in the Swedish suburb Malmö, where the striker grew up. Amsterdam and Turin have also been shortlisted, as Zlatan rose to fame at Ajax and turned into a superstar at Juventus. The producer is looking for Deutsche and Danish partners and Ibrahimovic is expected to co-produce the film.
Second film to be made on Swedish football legend
Previously a sports documentary named 'Becoming Zlatan' was released worldwide in 2016 and was a huge box office hit across many countries including the footballer's home country, Sweden.
What next for Zlatan?
Zlatan, who silenced his critics with a wonderful start to his Manchester United career, is currently on the sidelines due to an injury. Now rumours are also doing the rounds that the Swede will seek a move from the Premier League to LA Galaxy in the MLS. Who knows maybe he just wants to be closer to Hollywood!
