Yuzvendra Chahal becomes first Indian with 350 T20 wickets: Stats
Star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal added another feather to his cap as he completed 350 wickets in T20 cricket. He attained this feat in Match 56 of IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Chahal has become the first Indian to touch the 350-wicket mark in T20 cricket. Earlier this season, Chahal became the first player to 200 IPL scalps.
Chahal miles ahead of his compatriots
Chahal completed 350 T20 scalps with his first wicket in the match. He dismissed DC skipper Rishabh Pant for this record. Notably, Piyush Chawla and Ravichandran Ashwin are the only other Indians with over 300 wickets in T20 cricket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is closing in on this mark, having taken 297 wickets. Dwayne Bravo leads the overall wicket tally in T20s, with 625 scalps.
Most wickets for India in T20Is
Chahal has taken 96 wickets at 25.09 for India in T20 Internationals. He is their leading wicket-taker in the format, having played 80 games. Bhuvneshwar remains the only other Indian with 90 T20I wickets at 23.10.
Highest wicket-taker in IPL
Earlier this season, Chahal entered the record books. He became the first bowler to complete 200 wickets in the IPL. Chahal took just 153 games to complete 200 scalps in the competition. His average and economy rate are around 22 and 7.8, respectively. Last year, he displaced Dwayne Bravo (183) at the summit of the wickets tally.
Second-most IPL wickets for RR
Chahal has also overtaken Shane Watson to become RR's second-highest wicket-taker in IPL history. Watson, who emerged as a star all-rounder, took 61 IPL wickets from 78 matches at 27.88 for RR. Chahal, with 62 wickets, is only behind Siddharth Trivedi in terms of IPL wickets for RR. Trivedi, Chahal, and Watson are the only three players with over 60 IPL wickets for RR.
