#IndiaInAustralia: Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal scripts a sensational record
Indian cricket team wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was preferred over Kuldeep Yadav for the third ODI against Australia. And Chahal made the most of his opportunity at the MCG on Friday. He picked up 6/42 to rattle the Aussies, who were bowled out for 230 inside 50 overs. Chahal went on to script a special record with his effort. Here's more.
Chahal equals Agarkar in this special record at the MCG
Chahal has scripted the joint best bowling figures in an ODI match by an Indian bowler at the MCG. He equalled the record held by former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar. The right-arm pacer had earlier recorded 6/42 in an ODI against the hosts in 2004. The 28-year-old Chahal also notched his best career bowling figures in ODI cricket. His previous best was 5/22.
Chahal rips apart the Aussies at the MCG
Chahal showed his prowess with the ball and bagged a heap of wickets that included the one of an in-form Shaun Marsh (39). The other victims of Chahal were, Usman Khawaja (34), Peter Handscomb (58), Marcus Stoinis (10), Jhye Richardson (16) and Adam Zampa (8).
Chahal has made the most out this chance
Chahal is one of India's three spinners in the squad. The other two are Kuldeep and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. What Chahal showed today, was that skipper Virat Kohli can count upon him when given a chance. Kuldeep is the ideal option for India, but Chahal can always stake his claim. He has an impressive 62 wickets in 45 ODIs at an average of 23.76.
Chahal a vital member of this Indian side
With the ICC World Cup 2019 starting from May 30 onwards in England and Wales, the spinner has brought a positive mood in the camp with this show. There is no doubt that Chahal can have a lasting influence in the World Cup.
