Know what Yuvraj Singh stated about his life during cancer
Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with cancer shortly after the ICC World Cup 2011 at home. Notably, Yuvraj dominated the opponents in the World Cup with 362 runs and 15 wickets. He emerged as the player of the tournament for helping India win the coveted trophy. The stylish southpaw then went on to battle cancer, which he recalls as the darkest phase of his life.
Cancer took the joy out of everything, says Yuvi
"The diagnosis of cancer shortly after the high of the World Cup victory, it took the joy out of everything, it was a very dark moment in my life, that little mental wince again," Yuvraj was quoted as saying by Cricketnext.
Yuvi reveals that he learnt to never give up
Unfortunately, Yuvraj never regained the form post his recovery from the disease. But he still registered his highest ODI score in 2017. "But what I learnt from that and subsequently is never to give up. You control the things that you can control. People thought that my career was over after cancer, and I came back and registered my highest one-day score."
'Selection is not in my control'
Yuvraj wanted to be part of India's planes until the 2019 World Cup. But he was dropped from the side last year and since then hasn't made a return. "As I said, selection is not in my control. I am sure everyone is looking at the youngsters for building the team." Yuvi added, "It's up to the selectors and the coach/captain to decide."
Yuvi wants to play till 2019
Yuvraj wants to keep performing until 2019 and will then decide on his career. He has had a long career for India. He amassed 8,701 runs and picked 111 wickets in 304 ODIs. Besides that he also represented the national team in 40 Tests and 58 T20Is. He has been scoring consistently for Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy which includes a 96-run knock.
