Here's Yuvraj Singh's answer on MS Dhoni's future

    What's the story

Former explosive Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh, who retired from the sport in June, floored the reporters with an epic reply upon being asked about the future of former Indian skipper MS Dhoni.

During a function in Mumbai, upon being questioned on the same, Yuvraj asked the reporter to ask the 'great selectors', besides believing that the team needs better selectors.

    Here's more on this.

    Dig at selectors

Yuvi takes a dig at selectors again

On being questioned, Yuvi firmly replied by saying, "I don't know boss. You should ask your great selectors when you meet them. That's their call, not mine."

While he believed that selection is a difficult job, he backed for better selectors.

"It's a difficult job, but their thinking, in terms of modern-day cricket, is not up to the mark. It's my opinion," he added.

    Dhoni's current status

Dhoni yet to play for India following World Cup ouster

For now, Dhoni is on a sabbatical from the sport following the conclusion of the 2019 World Cup.

Dhoni missed India's limited-overs campaign against Windies and then the T20Is against South Africa, while he would miss the upcoming T20Is against Bangladesh, having extended his break until the end of November.

He is likely to play the T20Is against the Windies in December.

    Better selectors

We definitely need better selectors: Yuvi

Yuvi said that he always believes in protecting the players and being positive about them, but talking negatively about them does not show the team in a good light.

"The character only shows when things are going wrong and you motivate the players. In bad times, everyone talks bad. We definitely need better selectors," he asserted.

    Losing the spot

Yuvraj believes fear of losing the spot haunts Indian players

Yuvraj explained that while overseas players take a break, the same cannot be the case with Indians, since they fear of losing their spot.

"What I would like to see is a players' association coming up because I think the player's voice was never heard before. So, I think a players' association that all other countries have, we should also have," he said.

We deserve it [players' association]: Yuvraj

"We deserve it [players' association] because there are a lot of times we have been asked to play cricket that we don't want to. We have to play with the pressure that if we don't play we will be thrown out," Yuvraj added, reports PTI.

    More support

Yuvraj feels that current Indian players need more support

Yuvraj reckons that the current players choose to play the game even while being injured, out of the fear of losing heir spot, which needs to be addressed and resolved.

"That's something I would like to see happening for the players. Every voice should be heard in the players' association, not only the captain or vice-captain or senior players'," he further added.

    Backs Ganguly

Yuvraj backs Sourav Ganguly to bring in the change

Yuvi also backed new BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, to work on the same and believes that the latter, being a former player himself, will give players the freedom to voice their opinion.

"It didn't happen earlier. They [previous administrators] would make decisions and cricketers were not heard. Now, he [Ganguly] will listen to what cricketers want," concluded Yuvraj.

    Indian Cricketers' Association

BCCI introduced Indian Cricketers' Association for former players

While BCCI might work on introducing a players' association, as of now, it has introduced the Indian Cricketers' Association (ICA), which looks after the interests of the former and retired Indian players.

Also, with Ganguly looking to bring in revolutionary changes in Indian cricket, and being an ex-player himself, he would certainly back the need for a players' association and would look into it.
