Who can be the next Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh?
It is clearly evident that Dhoni and Yuvraj are close to their retirement age and the cricket fraternity is in the period of uncertainty on the possible replacements for these icons. While finding a replacement for both is indeed a mammoth task, it brings a huge sense of despair when the men who have brought glamour to the team are close to bidding adieu.
Dravid's concern over 2019 World Cup
Rahul Dravid has also taken the concern and urged the Indian selection committee to rethink the future of Dhoni and Yuvi keeping the world cup in mind. The world cup will be held in the England & Wales region from May to July in 2019. He also believes this is the right time to have more youngsters into the senior side and groom them.
Next 4-5 months is an experimental period: MSK Prasad
The heat and ambiguity of selection are not just with the fans but with the selection panel as well. MSK Prasad said that the next 4-5 months would be an experimental period for the team where they would be trying out different combinations in the team. He also asserted that Dhoni and Yuvi are still on the board and time will decide their inclusions.
Who will don the wicket keeping gloves?
The people have been used to hear the intriguing calls from the stump mic for more than a decade and Dhoni is close to relinquishing himself from 'that' place. It is definitely compelling to know who could replace the spot. The position not just encompasses keeping the wickets but also comes with the charismatic attitude of encouraging the team.
Youngster or experienced?
Speaking of youngsters, Rishabh Pant seems to be a brilliant choice who can efficiently manage the role of a wicket keeper and a finisher, but will he be provided sufficient exposure before the world cup? The test experience of Saha should be an advantage, but unfortunately, he has played just over a half-dozen ODIs with a disappointing average.
Is there anyone who can finish the game?
Dhoni undoubtedly finished matches more than anyone ever did. The player replacing him will be trusted to carry the team home. Despite Dinesh Karthik being on & off the side for the past decade his experience during the IPL makes him handy through the death overs. KL Rahul is another excellent choice keeping in mind his temperament and the flamboyant style of playing aggressively.
Position 4 brings in advantage
Replacing Yuvraj is somewhat an effortless process. The team already boasts two brilliant all-rounders making the fourth position in the lineup a pure batting spot. Manish Pandey is the sole choice who could potentially replace Yuvraj Singh. However, in events of his unavailability, it would be no surprise even if Robin Uthappa or Suresh Raina make it to the probables.
