U-19 batsman Pavan Shah registers India's best youth Test score
U-19 batsman Pavan Shah scripted a new record as he registered the highest score by an Indian batsman in youth Test matches. The player achieved the feat against Sri Lanka U-19 side in the ongoing Test series. Pavan managed to score 282 runs, as he went past Tanmay Srivastava (220), who had earlier slammed the best score in 2006 against Pakistan U-19 side.
Pavan goes past notable names
Pavan took just 332 deliveries to smash 282 as he surpassed several notable names in his quest to register the highest score in youth Tests for India. He went past the likes of Gautam Gambhir (212), Cheteshwar Pujara (211) and Abhinav Mukund (205). He hit 33 fours and a six, before being run-out. India U-19 side lead the series 1-0 and declared at 613/8.
Pavan is the 2nd highest scorer ever in youth Tests
Pavan also became the 2nd highest scorer ever in youth Tests. Former Aussie U-19 cricketer Clinton Peake has the highest youth Test score of 304*. He had achieved the feat against India U-19 back in 1994/95 season.
