IPL 2018: 5 youngest cricketers to play in the IPL
Indian Premier League has always been about youngsters. It is a platform where they showcase their talent and rub their shoulders with the best in the world. Some of these youngsters have also gone on to represent India, courtesy of their heroics in the IPL. Here is the list of the youngest players who have played in the cash-rich league.
Ishan Kishan: The talented one
One of the most promising prospects, Ishan Kishan made his IPL debut in 2016 for Gujarat Lions. He played his first match against Kings XI Punjab. He had a disappointing first season, where he scored 42 runs in 5 matches. But things changed for him in the 2017 edition, when he started to open the batting. He slammed 277 runs in 11 matches.
Rahul Chahar: The young spinner
Rajasthan youngster Rahul Chahar became the 4th youngest player to make his IPL debut, when he took the field for Rising Pune Supergiant against Kings XI Punjab in the last edition. The young leg-spinner, however, failed to make an impact and could manage just 3 games in which he bagged two wickets. Still young, Rahul has a lot of time to make amends.
Washington Sundar: The Nidahas Trophy hero
The man of the series at the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy, Washington Sundar is the third youngest player in the IPL. He made his debut for the Rising Pune Supergiant against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 edition. The youngster from Tamil Nadu bagged 8 wickets in 11 games in his debut campaign. His impressive performances even ensured he got his India call-up.
Pradeep Sangwan: The tainted one
Pradeep Sangwan is the second youngster player to make his debut in the IPL. He made his debut in the inaugural season where he bagged just 5 wickets in 7 matches. Sangwan failed to make an impact and was restricted to bench. His all-time low came when was handed an 18-month ban for doping during the 2013 IPL.
Sarfaraz Khan: The power-hitter
Sarfaraz Khan became the youngest player to make his IPL debut, when he represented RCB against CSK in 2015, aged just 17 years and 177 days. Sarfaraz has shown glimpses of his talent but has failed to nail down a regular spot in the XI. In 18 matches, he has scored 177 runs at a strike rate of 173.52.
