5 sons of famous cricketers who are making their mark
Fathers are our first heroes as children. Most of us even aspire to be like them. Cricket too, has some youngsters who are trying to carry on the legacy left behind by their famous fathers. Here is our list of upcoming cricketers who are looking to follow the footsteps of their dads and make it to the big stage.
Jake Lehmann
The son of former Australian cricketer and current head coach Darren Lehmann, Jake is a left-hand middle-order batsman, like his father. The 24-year-old has represented South Australia at the domestic level and boasts an average of 42 in 32 first-class matches. Judging by his numbers, junior Lehmann might soon play under daddy.
Tagenarine Chanderpaul
Father and sons generally don't play competitive cricket together, but that is an exception for Tagenarine Chanderpaul, the son of legendary West Indies batsman, Shivnarine Chanderpaul. The duo shared the 22-yard strip together and even posted half-centuries in the same first-class tie. 21-year-old has represented the West Indies in the Under-19 world cup and is a serious prospect.
Thando Ntini
Thando Ntini, the son of Makhaya Ntini, one of South Africa's first few black players, is looking to fill the shoes of his legendary father. Thando, like his father Makhaya, is a right arm fast bowler and is currently competing in the Under 19 World Cup in New Zealand. Will he replicate his father heroics is something that remains to be seen?
Austin Waugh
The Waugh family is legendary in Australian cricket. Steve Waugh was one of Australia's most successful captain and following his footsteps is his son Austin Waugh. An all-rounder just like his father, Austin bats in the middle order and is a medium fast pacer. He is currently a part of Australia's Under-19 World Cup squad.
Arjun Tendulkar
All eyes are always on Arjun Tendulkar, the son of the arguably the greatest cricketer from India. While Sachin was the best opening batsman of all time, junior Tendulkar is an all-rounder and bowls left-arm pace and is a left-handed batsman. The 18-year-old just smashed 48 off 27 balls playing for CCI in Australia. We might soon see him donning the Team India's jersey.
