Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes his fifth Test half-century: Key stats
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a solid knock on Day 1 of the 1st Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Jaiswal rescued the hosts after they were down to 34/3 inside the first 10 overs. Bangladesh had won the toss and elected to field. The left-handed batter added 62 runs with Rishabh Pant before completing his half-century.

Bangladesh were on fire in the first hour, with Hasan Mahmud removing Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Kohli in quick succession. However, Jaiswal propelled India past 90 along with Pant, who departed before the 100-run mark. Jaiswal then had a brief parntership with KL Rahul, having reached his fifty off 95 balls. Jaiswal then fell to Nahid Rana for 56(118). He scored 9 boundaries.
Stellar run in Test cricket
Jaiswal continues to shine in Test cricket, having made his debut last year. The left-handed batter has raced to 1,084 runs in just 10 Tests at an incredible average of 67.75. His tally includes three tons, five half-centuries, and a double-ton. Jaiswal has an astronomical average of 85.33 in home Tests. He owns as many as two tons in this regard.
A legend in making!
Jaiswal made waves with a record-breaking 171-run knock on his Test debut last year, against the West Indies. He then broke several records in the five-match Test series against England at home. The young opener was adjudged the Player of the Series. Jaiswal became the second Indian batter to slam 700 runs in a bilateral Test series, joining Sunil Gavaskar.
