WWE: Here are some strange facts about Triple H
WWE has produced some legendary wrestlers over the years. While a few are from WCW, others rose to fame during the Attitude Era. Paul Michael Levesque or Triple H is one such wrestler who has been a part of both and is undoubtedly one of the legends of the company, and a future Hall of Famer. Here are some relatively unknown facts about him.
He was not known as Triple H initially
Interestingly, Paul's first ring name was not Triple H. He had a stint with WCW, prior to WWE acquiring the promotion. At WCW, he was known as Terra Ryzing. The reason behind his name was his character. His job was to terrorize people and this name suited this gimmick. Notably, before he took up the name Triple H, he was called Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
He took tips from The Undertaker to date Stephanie McMahon
Shocking, right? Everyone on this planet is shocked to know this. The love story of Hunter and Chairman Vince McMahon's daughter Stephanie is one of the most talked about in WWE's history. However, Hunter was initially scared of dating her, as he believed he would be judged by people for it. Nonetheless, The Undertaker advised him not to worry about others and pursue her.
He was the first World Heavyweight Champion
Being a champion in pro-wrestling is an honor, but being the first-ever champion etches your name in record-books. Following WWE's acquisition of WCW, the promotion introduced the second World Championship belt, in the form of the World Heavyweight Championship. The title was considered more prestigious than the WWE title, and then Raw manager awarded the title to Hunter, as he considered him the best.
Triple H and WWE got sued for a botch
WWE and its superstars getting sued has been a common thing. Hunter was a part of the fight where he injured Marty Garner with his finishing maneuver 'Pedigree', as Garner misjudged the move for a double underhook suplex. Garner was sidelined for three months as he later went on to sue Hunter and WWE, which was eventually settled out of the court.
He is the 'Most Hated Wrestler'
Triple H, besides being a sound performer, was also one of the top heels in the company. As a heel, one is bound to get hate from the crowd. In the same light, Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine used to organize the 'Most Hated Wrestler' award annually. Surprisingly, Hunter won the award five times, which is also the most by any wrestler in WWE's history.
