Five greatest trios in the history of pro-wrestling
We have talked about the best tag-teams and stables in wrestling history, which created an iconic status for themselves and blazed the paths for others to follow. It is only right that we now take a look at pro-wrestling's greatest three-member groups. Some of them have been extremely influential and continue to be popular today. Here're the greatest trios in the history of pro-wrestling.
The extreme trio who blazed WWE
Team Xtreme was the offshoot of the legendary tag-team The Hardy Boyz and was formed when Matt Hardy's then-girlfriend Lita joined their ranks. Matt and Jeff were already popular with fans for their matches against the Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian, and the addition of Lita gave them further boost. Lita is now a WWE Hall of Famer from the women's division.
The Waytt family showed a lot of promise
The Wyatt family debuted in 2013 and immediately caught the attention of the pro-wrestling world. Luke Harper, Eric Rowan, and leader Bray Wyatt looked like promising talents and even delivered inside the ring. They were charismatic, unique, and had a lot of potential, but were taken off air with still a lot to offer. We hope McMahon decides to bring them back again.
The Shield were one of WWE's most destructive forces
The Shield comprised of Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins. They debuted at 2012 Survivor Series, and the wrestling world immediately knew these three performers could be stars of the future. They destroyed icons like CM Punk, John Cena, and The Undertaker, and always attacked their victim like a pack of wolves. They are surely WWE's future legends and Hall of Famers.
The most notorious trio of the Attitude Era
Though Degeneration X is now known to most as a stable, the group actually became famous as a trio comprising Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Chyna. The three wrestlers were supremely talented, funny, and notorious, thus quickly created a huge fanbase for themselves. DX and Stone Cold were hugely responsible for making WWE into a global brand and they are still remembered fondly.
What happens when three legends join forces?
Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall came together in 1996 at World Championship Wrestling to form the New World Order (NWO). NWO started off with Hogan turning heel for the first time ever and siding with Nash and Hall. They brought terror upon WCW and became one of the most notorious trios ever. They helped WCW challenge WWE during the Monday Night Wars.
