WWE: Analyzing the possible feuds for CM Punk upon return
The WWE Universe was abuzz following CM Punk's shocking return to WWE TV, as he made an appearance on the talk-show, WWE Backstage, on Fox Sports. While he is contracted to Fox, there are rumors which say that it's only a matter of time before he steps back in the WWE ring. On the same note, we analyze some of his feuds upon return.
Will the Samoan Submission Machine fire the opening shot?
We start the list with an obvious choice. It should be noted that while Punk made a debut on Backstage, Samoa Joe was on the sets, who is an active superstar on Raw. While the latter might be nursing an injury, for now, he is known to be a top heel, and could well fire the first shot at Punk.
Adam Cole might look to prove that he is undisputed
Reigning NXT Champion, Adam Cole, too, was present during the Backstage. While Cole, along with others, is looking to prove that NXT is the main roster, he could also start the feud, claiming that Punk is the past, while he is the future. WWE could wait until Cole enters in the main roster, or a one-off NXT feud could also be interesting.
Will The Architect burn the myth of Punk down?
Following Punk's return on Backstage, Seth Rollins seemingly invited a feud, as he posted a tweet, saying, "Fight me @CMPunk." And, Punk is the kind of guy who never backs out from a fight. Furthermore, with Rollins being WWE's poster boy for quite some time, the feud would help him bolster his career. However, be careful what you wish for, Rollins.
Tame the Paul Heyman Beast for the WWE Championship
One of the inevitable feuds as Punk is likely to go after WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Both have a rich history, while Punk, being a former Paul Heyman guy, which ended in a betrayal by the latter, might still have some unfinished business. Furthermore, Punk would also like to vie for the WWE Championship, making this feud even more interesting.
Take on the entire Authority
The most epic feud for Punk, upon return, would be if he goes against the bosses, including Chairman Vince McMahon and COO Triple H. While it was the fallout with Vince which led to Punk quitting WWE, Hunter and his wife Stephanie, have taken numerous shots at Punk on live WWE TV, following his departure. Thus, a lip-smacking feud certainly awaits.
