WWE: Ranking the most weird catch-phrases of all time
WWE has, over the years, scripted history in the field of sports entertainment. One of the unique elements of WWE is the promos cut by the superstars. In those promos, superstars tend to say things which occasionally get accepted by fans and become catch-phrases. And, here we have a look at some of the most weird catch-phrases of all time.
WWE stands for Walk With Elias!
All right, let us face it. We all know what WWE stands for. However, modern-day superstar Elias has given a whole new name to it, 'Walk With Elias'. As Cena appreciated it, it was widely accepted by fans as well. Adding to its popularity, fans also started singing to it. Fans may like it, but we believe it is an insult to WWE.
The Yes Movement
Daniel Bryan became a sensation in the WWE Universe owing to his weird gimmick. When he was happy, he used to chant 'YES, YES, YES'. However, on being unhappy, he chanted 'NO, NO, NO'. The crowd loved this catch-phrase and even after seven years, they continue to chant it, while Bryan doesn't anymore. Wonder what is so special about it!
'You can't see me'
From a memorable debut to rambling mouth and holding 16 world titles, John Cena has achieved it all. However, he is also known for his gimmick of 'You can't see me', which he used to perform by shuffling his five fingers across his face. While WWE Universe adopted it quickly a few years back, it has become stale now. Nonetheless, it's a weird catch-phrase.
Wait, 'WHAT?'
Now, this is one of my favorites. Stone Cold Steve Austin believed that he held greater authority over Vince McMahon with his initial catch-phrase being, "That's the bottom-line, because SCSA said so." However, if anyone retaliated, he used to answer back by saying, 'WHAT?' The catch-phrase soon became really famous and is used even to date by the WWE fans.
'If you smell what The Rock is cooking'!
The Rock is one such superstar who needs no introduction. He is truly the King of WWE's microphone. While he had quite a few catchphrases, the most popular one was his ending phrase where he used to say, 'If you smell what The Rock is cooking'. The crowd did accept it with immense passion, but we still don't get the logic behind it.
