WWE: Five superstars with most number of Intercontinental Championship titles
WWE has, over the years, given the fans a number of champions as well as championships. Among a few of the oldest championships in WWE, the Intercontinental Championship remains one of the most prestigious titles. Having been won by 83 WWE superstars to date, it has a legacy of itself, as we take a look at the superstars with the most number of reigns.
The One of a Kind had historic reigns
We start the list with, One of a Kind, former WWE superstar, Rob Van Dam. He had six reigns as the Intercontinental Champion. Although he would have wished to hold on to it longer, he still managed to be a champion for 211 days, which was prestigious during his days. With this feat, he cemented his legacy as one of the greats.
'The Great One' had a great reign
Prior to Rob Van Dam, it was The Great One, Jeff Jarrett, who had interesting six reigns as the Intercontinental Champion. He held on to the title for a total of 290 days, while it was his opening reign which was special, as he remained the champion for 94 days. It is owing to this, he is a WWE Hall of Famer.
The Showoff's six reigns were no showoff
Sharing the record with Van Dam and Jarrett, Dolph Ziggler too made a name for himself as the Intercontinental Champion. He won it on six occasions. He is undoubtedly the better of the above two, having held on to it for a total of 368 days, while his opening reign was the best of all, as it lasted 154 days.
The A-Lister made the title relevant
One of the finest Intercontinental Champions in today's date has to the A-Lister, The Miz. Having won on eight occasions, he has the second-most number of reigns. He has held on to it for 599 days, and is only eclipsed by Pedro Morales (619). His seventh reign was special, which he held it for 170 days, and that too as a heel.
The Highlight of the Night is the highlight of IC
As for the best of all, it is the legendary former WWE superstar, Chris Jericho, who has had the most epic run. He has won it on record nine occasions. While he held on to it for relatively less days than other, a total of 319 days, his fourth reign was the best of all, where he held it for 74 days.
