What's the story

It was an eventful week for fans across the globe as the weekend was filled with some high octane football action. Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Aguero were running riot, while Liverpool's Mohamed Salah continued his red-hot form. Neymar Jr added to his goal tally while Harry Kane settled the North London derby. Here is the week's football wrap up.

Stunned

Newcastle humble Manchester United 1-0

Manchester United succumbed to a shock defeat against Newcastle United, as the Magpies claimed their first home win since October. Matt Ritchie scored the only goal of the fixture leaving second-placed Manchester United now 16 points behind leaders and rivals, Manchester City. The victory means that Newcastle has now climbed out of the relegation zone.

Gaining momentum

Salah scores yet again in routine Liverpool win

Liverpool are in red-hot form and are gaining momentum. They moved within two points of Manchester United after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Southampton. Goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah secured the victory for the Reds. Firmino scored his 20th goal of the season & Egypt international Salah scored his 29th goal of the season in all competitions.

Hat-trick hero

Aguero takes City closer to EPL title

There is no doubt that Manchester City are running away with the Premier League title. Pep Guardiola's men thrashed Leicester City 5-1 on Saturday and now need just 21 more points to win their third Premier League title in 6 years. Sergio Aguero was the centre on all attention as he netted four goals to make it his second hat-trick in three home games.

King Kane

Harry Kane settles North London derby

Harry Kane had the last say in the North London derby as his towering header secured a 1-0 victory for Tottenham against Arsenal. The big guns of Arsenal had yet another bad day at work as all of them failed to fire. The victory means Spurs have now moved onto the 4th spot in the table and are 4 points behind second-placed, Manchester United.

Only unbeaten side

Barcelona fire first blank of the season

Elsewhere in the La Liga, Barcelona failed to score a goal for the first time this season to end up with a goalless draw against Getafe. It was a hard-fought draw for Getafe as they walked away with a point from Nou Camp. Barcelona still remain the only unbeaten side in Europe and are now 7 points adrift second-placed Atletico Madrid.

Back in form

Ronaldo issues warning to PSG

Real Madrid are back to winning ways after Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick crushed Real Sociedad 5-2. Madrid needed momentum going into the much-awaited Champions League clash against PSG later this week. Zidane's men ran riot and scored 4 goals in first half, but took their foot off the pedal and conceded twice in second half. Vazquez and Kroos were the other goal scorers for Madrid.

Best in the world?

Neymar on song ahead of Madrid clash

PSG, on the other hand, extended their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table to 12 points as they beat Toulouse 1-0. PSG's mercurial forward Neymar Jr netted the only goal of the fixture in the second half to seal the victory for the Les Parisiens. This was the Brazilian's 28th goal of the season in all competitions.
