Australia Women showed why they are the best in handling pressure games in the shortest format. Meg Lanning-led Australia overcame India in the final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 at the MCG on Sunday. Australia Women saw openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney take Indian bowlers to the cleaners. The two added a record 115 runs for the opening wicket. Healy scored a 39-ball 75 and thrived atop. Australia's wicket-keeper batswoman Healy scripted the second-highest individual score in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup final (75). She became the 11th batswoman in the world and the second Australian to surpass the 2,000-run mark in T20Is (2,060). She registered her 12th career T20I fifty and her fifth in the ICC World T20. Healy went past 750 runs in the global tournament (752).
In-form Beth Mooney slams these records
Mooney slammed her third fifty-plus score in the last four T20I innings. Mooney struck her third ICC World T20 fifty. The Australian opening batswoman registered her ninth career T20I fifty. She went past England's Natalie Sciver (1,425) in terms of career T20I runs (1,442). Mooney became the third Australian to amass 400-plus runs in the World T20.
Mooney slams most runs in an edition of the WC
Mooney has scripted the most runs in a single edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. She ended the 2020 edition of the tournament with 259 runs and went past Meg Lanning's 257 in 2014. Mooney and Healy's 115-run stand is the sixth-highest for the first wicket in ICC Women's T20 World Cup. She also scored the most runs in a final (78*).
Shikha scripts unwanted record, Poonam finishes with 10 scalps
Indian bowler Shikha Pandey conceded 52 runs from four overs. This is now the most expensive spell in the Women's T20 World Cup. Jemimah Rodrigues (0) scripted her second career T20I duck. Poonam Yadav (1/30) now has 28 scalps in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. She finished with 10 wickets in this edition.
Australia win fifth World T20 title
Australia won their fifth ICC Women's T20 World Cup trophy. This was their sixth appearance in the final. Australia Women (184/4) slammed the seventh-highest total in the history of T20 World Cup. This was their fourth total of 180-plus in World T20 history. This was the third-highest team total in the 2020 edition of the tournament.
Megan Schutt finishes with 13 wickets
Megan Schutt (4/18) raced to 89 career T20I scalps. She surpassed Sophie Devine (87) in terms of T20I scalps. She is also the joint seventh-highest wicket-taker in Women's T20Is. Schutt finished with 13 wickets in this edition. Her feat is the joint-best in Women's World T20 history. Schutt also registered her best bowling figures in the format and has 30 scalps in WT20.
