Women's World T20: Australian superstar Alyssa Healy could miss semis
Australia could suffer a huge blow as they are awaiting superstar Alyssa Healy's fitness report ahead of the semi-final on Friday. The prolific cricketer suffered a concussion while fielding against Indian women's team on Saturday. She is in danger of missing out the crucial fixture. Aussies went on to lose the match to finish second in Group B. Here's more.
Healy had suffered on-field collision with Schutt
Healy had suffered an on-field collision with pace bowler Megan Schutt on Saturday. The incident occurred when both the players went to catch a ball mid-pitch in the 19th over of India's innings. Arundhati Reddy had top-edged a shot off Schutt's bowling. The Aussie wicket-keeper batswoman crashed face first into Schutt's shoulder. She had to go for treatment soon.
Healy has been in great touch
Healy has been in tremendous form and is the tourney's third highest run-getter. She didn't come in to bat against India in Australia's chase after the accident. Prior to the match, she slammed two fifties and a 48 in the ongoing World T20. Australian women's team is monitoring the player closely as Meg Lanning's side hopes that she recovers in time.
Aussies hope Healy recovers well in time
Aussie women's team skipper Meg Lanning stated in her post-match conference. "Healy has got a mild concussion. So obviously we'll treat that carefully and monitor that over the next few days. But hopefully she's all right for us come semi-finals time."
Healy has been a chief contributor
Healy has been a prime force in T20Is for Australia. She has scored 1,369 runs in 90 matches. The wicket-keeper batswoman has 8 fifties to her name at an average of 24.22. The 28-year-old was a big miss for the Aussies against India. They had won the first three group games with Healy being the chief contributor. Therefore, the momentum was lost against India.
