ICC World T20: Team India probables, confirmed players and more
The Indian cricket team will be eyeing to get things right as the build-up for the ICC World T20 gains shape and momentum. The World T20 is set to be held in Australia next year and teams are figuring out the right balance for the coveted tourney. India have a big pool of players to choose from. We analyze the same.
India's likely confirmed batsmen for the World T20
When you look at the players that are almost certain, many names crop up. India's opening department is sorted with Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul being assured candidates. Skipper Virat Kohli is the main fulcrum of the batting. Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey have been in the side of late and given their experience, they could be certain candidates as well.
Who are the confirmed bowlers and all-rounders?
When it comes to the bowling unit, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the attack. He is currently nursing an injury. Bumrah will be helped by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the in-form Deepak Chahar. In the spin department, the wrist-spinners in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal look ideal bets for the side. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya are assured all-rounders.
13 players assured of berth in the 15-member squad
Here are the list of confirmed players: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Wicket-keeping options for Team India
It is not known whether MS Dhoni will keep himself available for selection for the World T20. He has been on a break since the 2019 World Cup. If Dhoni has a strong IPL 2020 season, we might see him keep the doors open. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, hasn't looked convincing in limited-overs cricket. Sanju Samson is perhaps an ideal replacement as wicket-keeper batsman.
Who are the probables for the World T20?
If India aim to got for another pacer in the 15-member squad, then the likes of Mohammed Shami, Navdeep Saini and Khaleel Ahmed are probables. Saini and Khaleel were both dropped in recent times, whereas, Shami made a return. Spin all-rounder Krunal Pandya is an option. Washington Sundar can challenge Kuldeep. Shivam Dube is the back-up for Hardik Pandya as a pace all-rounder.
Wishlist: The 15 players we feel can travel to Australia
We go with the 13 players that look assured of a berth in the World T20 squad. Now going with two remaining names, we feel Shami will be an ideal player. India need to go in with four pacers with Pandya being the fifth option. Meanwhile, Dhoni gets the nod ahead of Pant and Samson. If Dhoni retires, then Samson is our next choice.
