ICC World Cup 2019: Tendulkar picks the best non-Indian batsman
The ICC World Cup 2019 kicked off yesterday with England defeating South Africa in the match number one. Apart from a high-octane battle last night, fans also witnessed legend Sachin Tendulkar making his debut as a commentator. During the show, he impressed us once again with his cricketing knowledge. Further, he also picked his best non-Indian batsman, bowler and spinner. Here's more.
Tendulkar thinks David Warner can dictate the proceedings
Tendulkar thinks, among non-Indian batsmen, Australia's David Warner can rule the show in this World Cup. The legend praised Warner's hunger for runs, which he had displayed during IPL 2019. He was also impressed with Warner's ability to play freely and score in the tough Indian conditions. "Warner is anyways a fit cricketer, but his fitness was at another level during IPL," he said.
Tendulkar picks Jofra Archer as the best bowler
"I would love to watch Jofra Archer. He is someone who can contain the batsman and in fact when England need a wicket then too they can turn towards him," said Tendulkar. Notably, last night, Archer played an important role in England's win.
Tendulkar backs the spin sensation Rashid Khan
Speaking further about the current lot of bowlers, Tendulkar picked Afghanistan's Rashid Khan as his favorite spinner. He also advised Rashid to treat this tournament like Test cricket and back himself. "Even in T20s he gets wickets because batsmen don't pick him from his hand and if he can continue to do that, then he is going to be a handful," Tendulkar added.
Tendulkar looking forward to his commentary stint
"I know, I am having the same feeling I had in Pakistan in 1989. Now it is 2019, I am having the same feeling. 30 years down the line. I have a microphone in hand, not a cricket bat. Looking forward to it," he concluded.
