Has Rishabh Pant sealed his ICC World Cup 2019 spot?
In less than 90 days, the ICC World Cup 2019 is scheduled to kick-off in England, as India are near to finalizing their squad. However, it still remains to be seen if attacking wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant makes it to the team. With IPL set to begin from Saturday, can Pant come up with one last convincing performance to reserve his ticket to England?
Australia ODIs: Pant failed behind the wickets
In the recently concluded ODI series against Australia, Pant was a talking point. He had an average series with his bat, scoring 52 runs in two matches at an average of 26. However, it was his wicket-keeping skills for which he received backlash from fans as he missed three chances in the fourth ODI. His wicket-keeping was one of the reasons behind India's loss.
World Cup a priority, but focus on IPL 2019
While the World Cup would be the first priority for Pant henceforth, he has said that he won't be thinking much about it as he has to focus on his upcoming IPL stint. Playing for Delhi Capitals (DC), Pant says that he is fully committed on giving his best for the side and guide them to their first ever IPL title win.
In regular touch with MS Dhoni to improve skills
Speaking on his conversations with MS Dhoni, Pant said, "I've seen a few areas in my game where I need to work on and I've talked about my game to Mahi bhai about that. But as a player, you need to keep improving, every match."
Can IPL 2019 performance earn him the World Cup ticket?
Although the domestic league is a different ball game, it is no less than an important tournament. With the World Cup squad yet to be announced, Pant has a chance to prove his worth by putting up a stellar performance in the league. Therefore, he should not give the selectors any chance to change their stance on him, and give his best in IPL.
