    What's the story

Defending champions England have defeated Bangladesh by 137 runs to get their first win in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

While several batters enjoyed a gala time at the office, Reece Topley made the ball talk and claimed four wickets.

He became the first England bowler to claim a WC four-fer against the Tigers.

Here we look at his stats.

    Spell

    A fiery spell from Topley

Chasing 365, the Tigers were reduced to 3/26.

He dismissed Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto off successive deliveries in his first over.

Shakib Al Hasan was his other victim in the powerplay overs.

The left-arm pacer then got the better of Mushfiqur Rahim (51) to complete his four-fer.

Standing in his maiden WC match, he claimed 4/43 in 10 overs.

    Stats

A look at the career stats of Topley

In an ODI career spanning over eight years, Topley has represented England 27 times.

The tall seamer has taken 41 wickets at a remarkable average of 25.29 as of now.

The tally includes two four-wicket hauls and a five-for. His economy rate in the format reads 5.18.

His 6/24 against India last year are the best ODI figures by an England bowler.

    Summary

How did the game pan out?

Batting first in Dharamsala, England were off to a flying start as openers Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan attacked bowlers from the outset.

While Joe Root and Bairstow scored fifties, Malan made 140.

As a result, England posted 364/9. In reply, Topley reduced them to 26/3. Though Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim scored valiant fifties, the Tigers were eventually folded for 227.
