1992 World Cup: Azharuddin-led India defend paltry total
Mohammad Azharuddin-led Indian cricket team defended a paltry total of 216 against Pakistan at the SCG in 1992. Sachin Tendulkar's unbeaten 62-ball 54 was the highlight of India's innings as Mushtaq Ahmed was the chief tormentor for Pakistan. In reply, a stroke-filled knock by Aamir Sohail set the tone for Pakistan. But after his dismissal, Pakistan collapsed to be bowled out for 173.
1996 World Cup: India seal a notable quarter-final win
This is a match that would always be remembered for the epic send-off by Venkatesh Prasad to Aamir Sohail. Batting first, India posted a challenging 287/6. Navjot Singh Sidhu (93) was the top run-scorer. In reply, Sohail was all pumped up as he scored at a brisk rate. After his dismissal, India gained control of the proceedings. 1999 World Cup: India thrash Pakistan at Old Trafford
20 years ago, India thrashed Pakistan in the 1999 edition of the World Cup at Old Trafford. Batting first, India could only manage 227/6. Azhar and Rahul Dravid scored fifties. Pakistan needed to plan the chase well, but they faltered under pressure. A match-winning spell by Prasad (5/27) won the game for India in a comfortable manner. Pakistan were bowled out for 180.
2003 World Cup: Tendulkar masterclass floors Pakistan
The 2003 World Cup meet between India and Pakistan saw Sachin producing a gem of an innings. Batting first, Pakistan saw Saeed Anwar scoring a brilliant 101. But the others couldn't quite capitalize as the team was restricted to 273/7. In reply, Sachin got into the groove and perfected the chase. He scored a 75-ball 98. Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh got India home.
2011 World Cup: Sloppy Pakistan lose by 29 runs
India and Pakistan met in the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup. Batting first, India managed only 260/9 after Wahab Riaz's splendid five-wicket haul. Tendulkar (85) was dropped on numerous occasions and was India's top run-scorer. In reply, Pakistani batsmen got the starts, but couldn't convert them. Misbah-ul-Haq scored a gritty 56 as India won the encounter by 29 runs.
2015 World Cup: India claim impressive 76-run win
In the 2015 edition, India batted well at the Adelaide Oval to post 300/7. Virat Kohli (107), Shikhar Dhawan (73) and Suresh Raina (74) were among the runs. Right-arm pacer Sohail Khan picked up five wickets for Pakistan. Misbah scored a sublime 86-ball 74, but nobody else took the initiative. India sealed a famous 76-run win.
