With the World Cup 2019 fast approaching, he has set his sights on the title, where he would aim to come up with a lethal performance. With English conditions known to suit seamers, he would look to make the most of it. And before the tournament starts, he has warned his rivals.
Bhuvi claims to have developed 'pace and variations'
Speaking about his form, Bhuvi claimed that he has undergone immense fitness training. Moreover, he has also developed pace and variations for the World Cup. He also went on to warn India's rivals that they won't just be relying on their batting, but their bowling would be equally effective this time around. And they can decimate any batting order on any track.
Teams should be wary of India's bowling unit
"I agree that pitches in England in the last few years have been flat, but teams will be wary of India's bowling unit since we can be potent both at the start and at the death," Bhuvneshwar told Times of India.
Bhuvneshwar feels bowling attack has grown from strength to strength
While India might have one of the best bowling attacks in this World Cup, Bhuvi refrained from comparing them with others. Instead, he feels that their performance on the field would define their attack. "Our performances over the last few years speak for us. The Indian bowling attack has grown from strength to strength," he voiced.
Bhuvi could enjoy an edge over Shami
Bhuvneshwar would be ably supported by another talented pacer, Mohammed Shami. However, the notable factor that distinguishes both is the experience. While Bhuvi has played 15 ODIs in England, claiming 18 wickets at an economy of 4.47, Shami has played just four matches. Meanwhile, Shami too has enjoyed bowling in England, claiming eight wickets at an economy of 4.67.
Bhuvi and Shami have gone neck-to-neck since May 2018
Analyzing their performance further, they have been neck-to-neck since the conclusion of IPL 2018. Bhuvi has played 19 ODIs, claiming 28 wickets at an economy of 5.10, including a four-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Shami has played 13 ODIs, claiming 22 wickets at an economy of 5.45. Given their form, both of them are expected to play an important role in India's campaign.
Will Bhuvi be able to match Bumrah's lethal form?
Meanwhile, pacer Jasprit Bumrah is ODI's number one bowler at present. While he does not have enough experience in England, claiming just four wickets from five matches at an economy of 5.00, his performance since IPL 2018 has been phenomenal. Having claimed 21 wickets from just 12 matches, at an economy of just 4.11, Bhuvneshwar's job will be to aid Bumrah.
