Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Jalal Yunus said that the ICC had originally asked it to drop the red colour due to "commercial complications". But now the body agreed following a request from BCB.
'People wanted a touch of red in the jersey'
"It made the jersey green and white. But people wanted a touch of red in the jersey. So we requested the ICC again and they accepted our request," he told AFP.
People had complained regarding the white stripes
The original design actually featured the names of players and the word Bangladesh in red, but due to ICC's directive, it got changed to white. This led to people on social media complaining after the strip was unveiled. Even former BCB president Saber Hossain Chowdhury criticized the original design. He had tweeted that red and green were always Bangladesh's choice.
