England vs Bangladesh: Match preview, pitch report and TV listing

    What's the story

The 12th match of the ICC World Cup 2019 would witnesses England taking on Bangladesh at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Saturday.

With both the teams having two points in their kitty, it would be a mouth-watering clash, especially for the Tigers, who upset South Africa in their opener.

We present the match preview for this tie, along with team news and other details.

    Previous tie

Both teams endured a loss in their last match

Both England and Bangladesh endured a heart-break in their respective last match, against Pakistan and New Zealand.

England lost to Pakistan by 14 runs as they were robbed off two crucial points for it.

As for Bangladesh, they went on to lose to New Zealand by two wickets. However, they had put a commendable performance against Kiwis.

    Team news

Joe Root, Jos Buttler and Shakib Al Hasan in focus

As for players, England's Joe Root and Jos Buttler continued their fine form in the last game with both hitting a ton.

There is no doubt the onus would, once again, be upon them.

Meanwhile, for Bangladesh, Shakib played an innings of 64, and they would heavily rely on their veteran all-rounder for another prolific performance.

Pacer Mustafizur Rahman too would hog the limelight.

    Head-to-head

England enjoy an edge over Bangladesh in ODIs

Considering their World Cup meetings, both the teams have met thrice, with England winning once, while Bangladesh have won twice.

In England, the Three Lions have won six matches out of seven.

As for their head-to-head clash in ODIs to date, both the teams have come across 20 times, with England winning 16 matches, while Bangladesh have scripted four victories.

    Pitch report

A sporty track awaits in Cardiff

Talking about the Cardiff track, fans have witnessed low-scoring encounters till now.

As of now, anything between 250 looks par on this ground.

The team winning the toss would ideally like to bowl first, especially owing to the overcast conditions.

However, batting first won't be a bad option either, since the track would hardly change in the second innings.

    Predicted XI

Here is the predicted XI for both the sides

England: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (captain), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (wicket-keeper), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood.

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mashrafe Mortaza (captain), Mustafizur Rahman.
