BCB, ECB officials meet to discuss Women's T20 World Cup
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) have held a meeting to discuss the upcoming Women's Twenty20 World Cup. The tournament was initially scheduled to take place in Bangladesh, but has been relocated to the United Arab Emirates due to ongoing violence and unrest in Bangladesh. Despite this change, the BCB will remain as the official host of the championship, which is set for October 3-20.
BCB and ECB officials meet in Abu Dhabi
The meeting between the BCB and ECB took place in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. The BCB was represented by its newly-elected president Faruque Ahmed and CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, while the ECB was represented by its chief Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan among other officials. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice also attended this crucial meeting. The 23-match tournament will be hosted across Dubai and Sharjah.
ECB chief expresses readiness to host Women's T20 World Cup
ECB chief Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan expressed his delight at the opportunity to host the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE. "The Emirates Cricket Board has time and again proved its hosting capabilities and we are once again ready to deliver a world-class event," he said according to Cricbuzz. He also thanked the ICC and BCB for their trust in UAE's ability to successfully conduct this prestigious tournament.
BCB chief expresses confidence in UAE's hosting capabilities
BCB chief Faruque Ahmed expressed his confidence in the UAE's ability to successfully host the tournament. He stated, "We want to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping-up to stage the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Dubai and Sharjah." He further added that they have full faith in ECB's capabilities and are looking forward to closely working with them and ICC for a successful tournament.
