Women's Hundred: Deepti Sharma slams record-breaking 46 for London Spirit
Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma starred for London Spirit against Oval Invincibles at The Oval in the 2024 Women's Hundred on August 11. Despite scored a record-breaking 46(30), but the Spirit later lost by eight wickets. However, her incredible effort earned praise as her team was down 47/7 at one stage, in the first innings. The Invincibles had earlier won the toss and chose to field first.
Sharma and Gray's partnership sets new record
The Invincibles's bowlers initially dominated the Spirit's batting line-up, reducing them to 47/7 in just 58 balls. However, Deepti and Eva Gray stepped up, scoring a combined 56 runs off 34 balls. This marked the highest-ever partnership for the eighth wicket in The Women's Hundred history. Sharma returned unbeaten on 46 off 30 deliveries, a knock laced with 6 fours and a six.

Invincibles triumph over Spirit despite record partnership
Despite the record-breaking partnership, the Spirit's total score of 120/8 in their allotted 100 balls fell short. The Invincibles' captain, Lauren Winfield-Hill, led her team with an impressive knock of 61 runs off just 40 deliveries. Marizanne Kapp also made a significant contribution with a quickfire cameo of 30 runs off 18 deliveries. The Invincibles surpassed the Spirit's total with nine balls remaining and only two wickets lost.
