Women's World T20: India beat Pakistan; here're the records broken
India beat arch-rivals Pakistan to win their second consecutive match in the 2018 ICC Women's World T20. After winning their opening encounter against New Zealand, India led by Harman Kaur brushed aside Pakistan to get to four points in Group B. Bowling first, India restricted Pakistan to 133/7 and then chased the target down with Mithali Raj scoring a fifty. Here're the records broken.
India seal their 4th victory against Pak in World T20
Veda Krishnamurthy went past Jhulan Goswami as she has the second most number of catches in T20Is for India. She has 24 and is now only behind Kaur (37). This was India's 4th win against Pakistan in World T20. This was also their 6th meeting in the tourney. India and Pakistan met for the 11th time in T20Is and India now have 9 victories.
Maroof, Dar play the rescue act for Pakistan
Batting first, Pakistan women's team got off to a terrible start as they lost three wickets for 30 runs. But Bismah Maroof (53) and Nida Dar (52) added 94 runs for the fourth wicket to give Pakistan to a decent total. In the final 12 deliveries, Pakistan lost 4 wickets and ended at 133/7. Dar hit the only two sixes of the match.
Maroof slams maiden fifty against India
This was Maroof's 7th T20I fifty of her career. And it was also her first fifty against India. She is now the 9th highest run-getter in women's T20I cricket (1,720). She went past New Zealand's Sophie Devine (1,719).
Poonam has 15 wickets in World T20
India's Poonam Yadav and Hemalatha picked 4 wickets between them to once again rattle the opposition. These two were excellent against New Zealand in the opening game as well. Hemalatha accounted for both the key wickets of Dar and Bismah. Poonam has 15 wickets in World T20 and is the leading wicket-taker for India. She also has 66 T20I wickets in 45 matches.
Raj is 5th highest T20I run scorer
Mithali Raj is now the 5th highest run-scorer in T20Is. She also notched her 16th T20I fifty. Raj also surged past the 300-run mark against Pakistan in T20I cricket. The veteran batswoman shared a 73-run opening stand with Smriti (26), which set up the chase.
